WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - It's been several years since the death of William Murphy, a man who gave his life to the Wilmington community and was a longtime director of the Martin Luther King Center.
"It's sad to go into the MLK Center and not see him," said Adrian McCrae, his step-son. "He raised just about every kid that went into that center."
"He gave his life to Wilmington," said Porica Daniels-MMurphy, his daughter. " I just want to make sure it's not in vain." In 2010, she started the Coach William E. Murphy Enterprises, INC. An organization which uses sports to help out at risk children. Saturday, the group hosted a basketball tournament at the Wilmington Family YMCA to raise money for the organization.
