WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) –Thanksgiving brought home a big gift for families with relatives in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Dozens of families came out to Riverfront Park in downtown Wilmington to greet their loved ones.
They were greeted with hugs and cheers from the crowd as the boat pulled in at about 7:45 Thursday night.
The Diligence returned home after almost a month away. They left on October 24th heading south to Gitmo and the Florida area.
We caught up with a mother from Maryland who came down to Wilmington to watch her son return home.
Jane Henry says after not speaking to her son for almost an entire month...this is the best thanksgiving gift they could ask for.
