
A man from Clarendon was killed Tuesday when he crossed the center line and hit another car traveling in the other direction.COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A man from Clarendon was killed Tuesday afternoon after he crossed the center line and hit a vehicle driving in the other direction.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, Ben Gore, 68, was driving south on US 701 outside of Tabor City when he crossed the center line and struck a car head on traveling north.
Gore, who was not wearing a seatbelt, ran into Deborah Strickland's 1999 Chevrolet SUV.
Gore and Strickland were both transported to hospitals in the area.
According to troopers, Gore died at Loris Hospital due to his injuries from the accident.
Strickland, 56, was treated at Columbus Regional. Troopers did not know the extent of her injuries.
A third vehicle was involved in the accident. Jerrid Clark, 34, was behind Strickland's SUV when she was hit head on by Gore. Clark was not injured.
No charges have been filed in this case.
