SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) -
A second arrest has been made in connection to the death of a repo man who was working to repossess a car when he was shot Tuesday afternoon by an 81-year-old man.
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office says 44-year-old Denise Michelle Livingston has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of a felony.
The fatal shooting happened Tuesday afternoon in front of a home on Fletcher Drive.
Chief Deputy Hampton Gardner identified the worker shot and killed as 45-year-old Todd Showell of Lee County.
Gardner says Showell and 68-year-old Gerald Lee of Camden arrived at the house shortly before 2 p.m.
Investigators say Showell and Lee were looking for a burgundy GMC pickup, which they did not realize was parked behind the house. But in front they found a similar red truck with a tag number nearly identical to the one on the truck behind the home.
The Sheriff's Office says Livingston went inside the residence where Alton Shelley was located and let him outside with a handgun.
Officials say Shelley then opened fire on the pair. Showell, driving the wrecker, was hit at least once and was dead by the time deputies arrived. Lee was not hurt.
Shelley is charged with murder and aggravated assault. At last report he was being held at the Sumter-Lee Detention Center.
A man next to the shooting scene who identified himself as Shelley's son-in-law called the shooting a "tragedy", but declined further comment.
