STATEWIDE, NC (WECT) – Nearly 400 people not wearing seatbelts died in traffic accidents on North Carolina roads in 2011, according to the NC Department of Transportation.
In an effort to lower that number, NCDOT Secretary Gene Conti announced Monday the launch of the statewide "Click it or Ticket" campaign.
Law enforcement officers will increase seat belt enforcement efforts during the campaign which runs through Nov. 25.
"We want everyone to make it home safely, not only during the holidays, but all year long," said Secretary Conti in a press release. "So buckle up, and make sure your passengers are buckled up, also."
