(Source: David Andrews)NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A local group that helps farmers received a makeover this weekend.
The Full Belly Project's headquarters needed new lights, as the old lighting grid there was nearly 60 years old, causing the lights to drain energy.
Saturday, as part of August Andrews' Eagle Scout project, volunteers renovated the space using energy-efficient LED lights.
Before now, it took 20 fixtures to light up the room; now, it takes only six, meaning that the Full Belly team can better see to make innovative tools that help farmers in North Carolina and around the world.
Jock Brandis, who heads up the Fully Belly Project, said he's grateful for the support.
Volunteers from Tri-Tech and Win Electric used their time to help make the space safer.
The Full Belly Project helps give farmers innovative, energy saving farm tools that have made their way onto farms around the world.
