Town leaders named a new chief at their regularly scheduled meeting Thursday night.LELAND, NC (WECT) – The town of Leland has found a new police chief for the force.
Interim Chief of Police Mike James was named permanent chief at Thursday night's town council meeting.
James was named interim after the town fired former chief Tim Jayne in February. Town leaders said they fired Jayne in an effort to "reorganize" the town.
