CHARGED: Several arrested for forging prescriptions
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Deputies in Columbus County arrested three people Tuesday for drug related charges.
Officials gained a search warrant several months ago for Dr. Andrew Schuett's office after receiving an anonymous tip that illegal drugs were coming from the office.
Deputies say office manager Windy Whitehead, 39, was passing prescriptions without the doctor's knowledge. She was arrested and charged with four counts of trafficking opium/heroin by forgery and fraud to obtain prescriptions for controlled substances – including Percocet and Lorcet.
Whitehead's daughter's boyfriend Courtney Scott, 20, and his mother Katrina Edwards, 39, were also arrested for their involvement. Scott was charged with five counts of trafficking opium/heroin by forgery and fraud to obtain prescriptions for Percocet and Lorcet. Edwards was charged with one count of the same charge.
Another person, Stephanie Mason Oden, a 29-year-old assistant, admitted to doing the same thing as the others during an interview with authorities. She was charged with four counts of trafficking opium/heroin by forgery and fraud to obtain prescriptions for Percocet and Lorcet.
