Woman spies mysterious light inside New Hanover homeNEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - One New Hanover County woman says she saw a 'ball of lightning.' It's a very unusual phenomenon that even scientists are still learning about.
"I didn't know what it was. I was shocked," said Betty Walters. Walters was sleeping in her guest room when a light outside her window woke her up. Then all of a sudden,
"The room just lighted up - like it came in the room - even though the blinds were closed. It was like a spotlight just going around and around."
The unusual light lit up her room, until,
"I heard a boom, a terrible boom," said Walters. The light disappeared but the noise was so loud it woke up her husband, who was sleeping two rooms away. The couple also noticed all of their clocks were blinking.
Our meteorologist say it sounds like a ball of lightning, the rare electrical phenomenon has been caught on camera a couple of times.
The ball can be any size, and can even cross through doors and windows. Sometimes it can cause damage, but in the case of the Walters' it did not.
