According to officials, the plan included a steering committee, stakeholder meetings and three rounds of public workshops.
During the workshops, WMPO people voiced they were against the collector street plan's recommendation for interconnectivity.Collector streets are streets that people travel along to connect to other major streets to reduce congestion.
Several streets in Wilmington, like Wilshire Boulevard and New Centre Drive, have already been acting as collector streets.
Since the plan lacked community support for long-range efforts, WMPO elected to stop working on the plan and will not recommend adoption of the plan or map.
The WMPO said they received beneficial information from this effort they hope to use in future planning efforts unrelated to the collector street plan.
