WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Residents in the United States soon won't be able to purchase a Suzuki vehicle. The Japanese auto maker has reported they will stop selling automobiles in the United States and put its American unit into Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Starting early in 2013, no additional Suzuki vehicles will be shipped to dealers in the United States.
Stevenson Automotive Group General Manager Pat Kobolla said the news came as a surprise to him.
Kobolla said Suzuki will honor warranties on vehicles that have been sold and will continue to provide parts to dealers for them to do service work.
According to Kobolla, no jobs will be lost and the car dealership on Market Street will concentrate on previously owned vehicles until they decide on a new brand of vehicles to sell.
