WILMINGTON, NC - (WECT) - Saturday, students from the Cape Fear Academy collected bikes to help out children in Central America.

As part of the Bike Drive, they spent the day tying down bike pedals and loading the bikes onto a truck. The truck will be traveling to Washington DC and from there, they bikes will be sent to El Salvador. They will be given to students who have to walk miles just to give to school.

Students said they felt drawn to the cause because they knew they were helping people their own age.

Bikes for the World is an international program which collects and donates more than 10,000 bicycles a year.
