
Cape Fear Community College honored veterans Friday with a special ceremony at noon.
Sgt. TJ Butler, who was recently killed in the line of duty, was honored during the ceremony with a plaque in his name.WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Cape Fear Community College honored veterans Friday with a special ceremony at noon.
The event at Tabitha's Courtyard featured remarks from CFCC President Ted Spring and veterans affairs coordinator Bob Philpott, according to a press release.
All branches of the military will be recognized through a musical salute. Sgt. TJ Butler, who was recently killed in the line of duty, was honored during the ceremony with a plaque in his name.
A large American flag that was carried into combat for U.S. forces during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 was on display throughout the event.
According to the college, over 600 student veterans are currently enrolled.
