Lake Waccamaw, NC (WECT) -- 2012 has been a record breaking season for the East Columbus Gators football team. Friday night Toby Kassell's squad will try to keep their magical season alive with a win against South Stanly.
"They see that they can do it. They have that confidence that they know on Friday night, if they bring their best they are unbeatable." said East Columbus Head Coach Toby Kassell.
Kassell, who is in his third season coaching the Gators has lead his team to a 8-4 record, setting a program record for the most wins in a single season. "We are just trying to keep the lid on the pot. Business as usual, and I keep preaching to them, act like you have been there."
The 2012 Gators are on the verge of going where no East Columbus football team has ever been. With a win over South Stanly would send the Gator's to the 3rd round of the playoffs for the first time in school history.
The Gators and Rebel Bulls kickoff Friday Night at 7:30 from the Swamp at East Columbus High School in Lake Waccamaw.
