WEATHER: Sunny and cool, warmer days ahead

NEW HANOVER, NC (WECT) – Frost advisories and freeze warning are in place across southeast North Carolina this morning.  Later today high pressure will build into the Tennessee valley and as a result it will be sunny.  Temperatures will rise from near freezing this morning to around 60 this afternoon.  Tonight will be clear and cold again with lows below freezing away from the coast.

Friday through Sunday will feature a warming trend and lots of sun as we remain under the influence of the high.  Overnight lows will moderate back into the 40's by Sunday morning.  Highs will warm from the low 60's Friday to the mid 70's by Sunday.  The next shower and thunderstorm chance will be Tuesday ahead of a strong cold front.
