WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Crews hired by the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority were scheduled to replace broken water valves along a portion of 16th Street starting Wednesday, but according to CFPUA the project has been postponed.
A press release from the Authority said the project will be revisited later this month.
According to CFPUA, the repairs will take place at night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.. in an effort to lessen traffic impacts in this area. The repairs will be facilitated between Grace and Dawson Streets.
CFPUA said it will be necessary to temporarily close certain intersections during this project because of the valve locations.
According to the Authority, drivers can expect to see detours around the intersections of 16th Street at Orange, Ann and Castle Streets and lane reductions on 16th Street at Grace and Dawson Streets.
Road/Lane Closures & Detours Information according to CFPUA:
• (Day 1) Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 16th Street @ Grace Street – Right southbound lane will be closed
• (Day 2) Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 200 block of 16th Street (between Orange and Ann Streets) will be closed. Intersection at 16th and Ann Sts. will be closed. 16th Street traffic will be rerouted on Orange to 15th St. to Nun Street.
• (Day 3) Friday, November 9, 2012 Intersection at 16th and Castle Streets will be closed. Traffic will be detoured at Church to 15th St. to Queen Street.
• (Day 3 or 4) TDB Two left southbound lanes on 16th Street between Wooster and Dawson will be closed as will the far left eastbound lane on Dawson Street at the 16th St. intersection.
