The Red Barn Studio Theatre on 3rd and Marstellar Streets in Wilmington is up for sale.WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The theater in Wilmington owned by actress Linda Lavin and husband Steve Bakunas is up for sale.
The two built the Red Barn Studio on 3rd and Marstellar Streets in 2007, but they are now moving to New York.
According to a post on Bakunas' Facebook page, The Imaginary Theatre Company was going to take over the space but opted out of the deal.
There will be a yard sale of some of the items in the theater Saturday, Nov. 3 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
Steve Bakunas' Facebook posts on Friday, November 2:
"Sorry to report, that The Red Barn Studio, has ended its Wilmington run, and the theatre is now for sale. The Imaginary Theatre Co. was to take over the space, but has opted out of the deal. This Saturday, from 8am-12 we will have a yard sale, a mixed bag of furniture, shelving, 50 chairs, props, household goods, some tools, props, and odds and ends. all inside, doors open at 8."
"For those of you who don't know, Linda and I are making Manhattan, our home base. We have lived there on and off for the last 12 years. We're selling our Wilmington home, because, it's more then the two of us need, and we're selling the Red Barn, because Its run its course. We never planned to start a theatre. The moment came, and we seized it. We're just starting a new chapter in our story. We're not leaving Wilmington for good, we still have a lot invested in this community, and a little studio, in Castle Hayne when we're here. We'll just be up the road! We're just spreading out!"
