WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Parole and probation officers are spending this Halloween making the night less scary for parents.
Officers went to the homes of registered sex offenders who are on probation to make sure they are not taking part in Halloween. The offenders are not allowed to give out candy, decorate their homes or have their porch lights on.
Our news crew followed the officers to several homes in Castle Hayne. All the offenders were following the rules.
Many offenders were required to be at treatment class. Probation officers said all of those who were supposed to be in class, showed up.
There are 72 sex offenders on probation in New Hanover County.
