Virgo Preparatory Academy Wednesday for reports of a possible fire inside a building, but that smoke turned out to be dust.
According to New Hanover County 911 Dispatch, reports of smoke in the music room came in at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday.
Virgo was briefly evacuated.
Firefighters investigated and determined dust on the heating vent caused the fire alarm to sound.
The school's principals said this is the first time the heaters kicked on this school year.
From its Twitter account, the New Hanover County School System tweeted, "...All is well. Students and staff safe."
The Wilmington Fire Department used fans to clear the building.
