Blue Clay Road was shut down for a time. (Source: Craig Reck)NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Blue Clay Road shut down Saturday night near College Road for a time after a hit and run sent a car into an embankment filled with water.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. Saturday near College Road. Authorities say a car heading north on the road was run off by a driver heading southbound and veering into their lane.
The impact sent the car off the road. Three people were inside the vehicle but no one was injured.
The driver of the car that caused the accident fled the scene.
Both lanes closed to allow crews pull the vehicle out of the water.
Authorities are investigating.
