
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A 3-year-old was taken to the hospital Thursday after being bitten by a dog.
According to the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, the child lives with her grandmother in a home off of Lake View Drive. The 3-year-old's mother told officials the child bent down to kiss a dog and it reached up and bit her on the left cheek.
The 3-year-old had puncture wounds and was taken to the hospital.
According to Animal Services, the dog is current with its rabies vaccinations, so it will be confined at home for ten days. Officers will go to the home several times during that time period to make cure the dog is well.
