HOUSTON, TX (WECT) - Southport native Quinton McCracken has been hired by the Houston Astros and will join the club as the Director of Player Development.
McCracken most recently was the Assistant Director of Player Development for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The South Brunswick product was selected by Colorado in the 1992 draft and broke into the big leagues with the Rockies in 1995. He was later taken by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 1997 expansion draft.
McCracken played for seven different clubs, ending his career with the Cincinnati Reds in 2006 when he was released mid-season.
