WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - It's not Halloween just yet, but the zombies in the Port City are already coming out.

The fifth annual Zombie Walk will benefit the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina.

Dozens of people stopped by the Soapbox to get Zombie-fied, and makeup artists covered the walkers in makeup and fake blood.

"People are out here to have fun, and there are so many fans, especially of that show, The Walking Dead," said Greg Yeager, event organizer. "That show is huge right now…that TV show has hit it huge, so there are a lot of folks that are into zombies that are coming out."

Last year, the walk raised $2,000.
