Cars line up for Fort Fisher FerryFORT FISHER, NC (WECT)- With the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge closed for a second weekend, many people opted to take the Fort Fisher Ferry instead of driving to Brunswick County.
The Ferry ran more rides over the weekend, to give drivers more options for getting around town.
Even though many drivers said the traffic wasn't as bad as it was the first time the bridge was shut down, drivers in line for the ferry on Sunday said they didn't want to risk getting stuck in traffic for hours again, and were glad to see more ferry rides.
Officials said they saw more cars come through the ferry than they normally do this time of year. They said they believe the bridge closure and the Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival contributed to the increase.
