WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The group against building a stadium in Downtown Wilmington says they are confident most people will be voting no in November.
Campaign leaders say all of the past polls have favored them, and they now believe more than 80 percent of the people in Wilmington are against the stadium.
The group held a campaign event Saturday at Hugh MacRae Park, where they passed out hundreds of "Vote No" signs. They say that's their campaign strategy in the home stretch, to continue getting the word out in as many ways as possible.
"We are fighting a monster machine, major league baseball a monopoly," said Scott Harry, with the Vote No campaign, "They've got hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on this and we don't."
He says the group plans to install a billboard on Oleander before the election.
