DOWTNOWN WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority issued a boil water precautionary advisory Friday afternoon in response to a water main break in the 600 Block of S. 16th St., according to a news release.
Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the introduction of bacteria into the water system.
When water is restored, consumers should boil all water used for human consumption. Customers will be notified when testing is complete.
In addition, the outer southbound lane of 16th St. will be closed until crews finish repairs. Crews expect the repairs will take approximately four hours.
