Iisha Scott

Iisha's passion for weather developed at an early age as she grew up watching The Weather Channel and several local Meteorologists, knowing that one day she would be the one standing in front of the camera. Although her weather fixation started very early, it was in 2003 when she experienced the power of a category 5 hurricane, by the name of Isabel, which devastated the east coast, but this same devastation convinced Iisha that this was the career for her.

Iisha grew up in Norfolk, Virginia and decided to stay home to attend college. She graduated from Norfolk State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and Broadcasting. While attending Norfolk State University, Iisha was an intern in the News and Weather departments at WAVY-TV 10 in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Her on-air career began as the main fill-in Traffic Reporter for Richmond's #1 newscast, 12 News Today. She also served as the Traffic Reporter for the noon show. In addition to her traffic duties, she also held the title of Weather Apprentice and News Content Specialist.

Previously, she was a weather intern at WTVR-CBS 6 in Richmond, Virginia. She also produced weekly weathercasts at WRIR-LP 97.3 FM.

Iisha joined WECT in September 2012 and is so excited to be forecasting the weather in Wilmington. She also holds the title of Web Producer for wect.com and wsfx.com.

In addition, Iisha is in the home stretch of finishing her second Bachelor of Science degree and Certificate in Geosciences and Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time at the beach, practicing yoga, trying new recipes and spending time with family, friends and her husband.

Her professional affiliations include: NWA, AMS, NABJ and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In addition, she was recently certified as a Trained Storm Spotter through the Wakefield National Weather Service Office.
