Chad and Carey Hayes at UNCW for new projects in Wilmington, NCWILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - It looks like Wilmington will continue to be a hotspot for some new feature film projects.
Filmmakers Chad and Carey Hayes are working with the University of North Carolina Wilmington for a film production series.
Majority of the projects filmed here are not developed locally. The Hayes brothers plan to develop a TV series and a feature film in the Port City
These projects are expected to bring hundreds of long term jobs and career opportunities for locals.
"There is such a pool of talent with the faculty and students here," said Chad Hayes. "We've also worked with a lot of kids and people who live here. They've been employees for the period of the filming."
"It's important to note that once we were done, we were gone and they stayed here, what's the next job?" said Carey Hayes. "They have to wait for the next thing. Part of us coming here is to create continual employment where we have numerous projects going on and everyone is working."
The filmmakers will hold a rocket pitch from 5:30pm-7:30pm Wednesday night at the Bernie Center at UNCW. Anyone interested in investing in the projects is invited to attend.
