BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – People in Brunswick County will be able to take advantage of a brand new senior resource center.
Commissioners purchased an old retail store off of Highway 17 in Shallotte to house the new senior center. They made the purchase in June for about $800,000. The building is about 22,000 square feet.
Employees already started moving some items from their current location on Main Street in Shallotte to the new location.
The center will have a gym, gift shop, computer center, cafeteria and much more. They will also offer educational and physical classes to seniors.
Officials hope to open the doors by the beginning of 2013.
A number of local businesses and companies have stepped up to help with the move. East Coast Moving gave a helping hand on Tuesday as employees began to move some office supplies to the new building.
