Town leaders discuss what to do with people, equipment stored at Sunny Point propertyCAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – There will be a public hearing in Carolina Beach Tuesday to discuss the possibility of using the town's property off of Spartenburg Avenue to store items that once were held at Sunny Point.
The Town of Carolina Beach has until the end of December to move most everything off property off Dow Road leased from Sunny Point for decades. The property served as a buffer zone for the military ocean terminal at Sunny Point.
Town leaders have discussed several options in terms of where they can move the equipment and the roughly 30 people who work in the Public Works Department. They have a budget of $38,000 to work with to buy or lease property.
A public hearing will be held Tuesday night at 6:30 at Town Hall to discuss what to do with the items.
