WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Success has followed former UNCW men's basketball standout Chad Tomko overseas, where the versatile guard has his professional team in Finland, the Bakken Bears, off to a flying start in the Danish League.
The 5-11 water bug tops five Bakken players in double figures with 18.5 points per game. The Bears, based in Aarhus, Denmark, have bolted out to a 4-0 start early in the season, winning by an average of 17.8 ppg.
Tomko is shooting 41.7 percent from the field (15-of-36), 40.0 percent behind the 3-point arc (8-of-20) and a perfect 100 percent (20-of-20) at the free throw line. The Charlotte product also tops the club in assists (6.0 apg) and steals (2.0 spg) through four outings.
Tomko closed out his sterling career with the Seahawks in 2010-11 and ranks third all-time in scoring (1,702 points|13.6 avg.), second in assists (481|3.8 avg.) and third in steals (223|1.8 spg). He also ranks second all-time in 3-point field goals with 256 triples in 744 attempts over 125 games played.
