BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Traffic was backed up in Brunswick County Monday morning after a traffic accident on the bridge that goes over the Brunswick River in Leland.

An SUV hit a guard rail on the bridge around 7:30 a.m. causing traffic to slow to one lane on Hwy 74/76 going into Wilmington.

Fire officials and EMS are on the scene trying to clear the accident, but drivers should expect delays.

Traffic was backed up to the Mt. Misery Road exit in Leland for about five miles by 8:30 Monday morning.
