MAYFAIRE, NC (WECT) - Hundreds of men, women and even an Olympic athlete took steps Saturday morning to fight breast cancer.
The annual Run for the Ta-Tas took place in front of Trysports in Mayfaire. More than 600 runners laced up their shoes to help out the Pink Ribbon Project.
The local foundation helps uninsured women get mammograms. The two-time Olympian, Anthony Famiglietti, ended up winning the race. He was visiting Wilmington, and when he heard about the race decided to support the cause.
"Wilmington is just a beautiful place to come and we wanted to come this time of year," said Famiglitti. "I was looking for races at the beach, and I saw this and I said what better place to run than here, there's no place better to be."
Organizers said they raised $10,000.
