Despite a web link existing that shows Courtney Melvin as a freshman on the women's basketball team at Fayetteville State, according to the sports information department she is not on the squad.
Adrian Ferguson, Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, indicated Melvin has been involved in pre-season conditioning activities with the team.
"Head Coach Eva Patterson-Heath has expressed excitement in having Courtney Melvin on campus and working hard in the classroom and working her way back into playing shape." Ferguson said Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Ferguson said the webpage wasn't certified through the compliance office; thus the removal of names.
The former ncpreps.com 2A player of the year left East Carolina prior to playing for the Pirates after filing a false police report telling officers she was assaulted on her way to a morning workout on campus.
