INVESTIGATION: Food Lion employees robbed after hours

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office are investigating a robbery that happened at the Food Lion in the 6400 block of Carolina Beach Road.

According to Sgt. J.J. Brewer, two employees locked up for the night and started walking to their vehicles a little after 11:00 p.m. when a man approached them from behind.

The employees told authorities the man showed a gun and ordered them back inside the grocery store.

Brewer said the man forced the employees to open the safe as a second man appeared with a book bag.

The two men told the employees to go into a room and ordered them not to come out while they in an unknown manner with an undetermined amount of cash.

A search from the sheriff's K-9 and SABLE helicopter was not successful.
