MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The victim of a stabbing following a fight outside the Myrtle Beach Food Lion on Saturday has died from his injuries.
Police were able to chase the suspect across Kings Highway before apprehending him, around 12:20 p.m. Saturday.
That suspect, according to authorities on scene, was 27-year-old Marcus Hudson. Police says he was fighting with another man in front of the Food Lion on 13th Avenue South, when he pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man in the chest.
Myrtle Beach Police were in the area and saw Hudson fleeing the scene on foot. They chased him across Kings Highway and caught him behind Nathan's Famous Frankfurters on the 1400 block of South Kings Highway.
The victim was immediately transported to Grand Strand Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries Saturday afternoon.
Booking records for J. Reuben Long Detention Center show Hudson was transported to the facility on Sunday night and is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The Horry County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 37-year-old Willie Ray Dixon of Myrtle Beach. Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler says Dixon's death was a result of trauma to his vital organs incurred when he was stabbed.
