(Source: youtube) Bella Smith launches youtube video promoting her beach cleanupSURF CITY, NC (WECT) - Like most eight-year-old girls Isabella Smith likes to play with her little sister, run around outside and absolutely loves animals.
"They are so cute," said Smith. However, unlike most kids her age, she's taking steps to save the lives of sea creatures.
"They don't have a voice," said Smith. "So it's my job to talk for them." The third grader took it upon herself to organize a beach cleanup at Surf City.
"Marine animals get killed every year because they get trapped in bags," said Smith. "It makes me sad for the animals." Isabella is using youtube to spread her message, making sure everyone understands how dangerous one piece of trash on the beach can be to animals.
"They can eat the bags, and then they think they are full, and they will starve," said Smith. She is hoping to change the way people think about sea creatures.
"I think some people just say, well there are hundreds and millions out there and, yeah, there are hundreds and millions out there but soon there will be just one because of all this trash."
