COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A man wanted for a shooting earlier this month turned himself into authorities Thursday morning, according to Whiteville police.
Officers say Demetris Robinson was fighting with a man in the parking lot at Sawmill Apartments September 16 when he grabbed a shotgun with the intent to shoot the man he was fighting and the people who broke up the fight.
According to authorities, a woman name Sharonda Ford, tackled Robinson in an effort to keep him from shooting the others. When she did, Ford was shot in the foot, leg and buttocks.
Robinson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a hand gun by a felon.
