State seeks death penalty against man accused of shooting driver in the face

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Prosecutors in New Hanover County will seek the death penalty in the murder case of Zhen Bo Liu.

According to the district attorney's office, prosecutors officially announced they will seek the highest punishment possible against Cornell Haugabook on Tuesday.

Haugabook, 20, is one of six other suspects accused of killing the Chinese delivery driver. He is also the only person who will face the death penalty during the trial.

Investigators said Haugabook and the other suspects placed an order for Chinese food and ended up shooting and killing Liu when he arrived to the house.

Haugabook is accused of shooting Liu in the face.
