Leland celebrates 23 yearsLELAND, NC (WECT) - The Town of Leland in Brunswick County celebrated its 23rd birthday on Saturday. Town leaders hosted a Founder's Day celebration at the Brunswick Forest Commercial area just off Highway 17.
Students from area school bands played for the crowd and sold food to raise money for their departments. There was also dozens of vendors and activities such as rock climbing, moon bounces, and fireworks.
Town leaders say it's a great way to bring everyone together.
"You've got a lot of different people moving in here, a lot of people that have been here a long time, a lot of new residents," said Niel Brooks, the Director of Parks and Rec. "Activities like this just bring people together, that's what we want is a unified town."
