SURF CITY, NC (WECT) - Construction is underway in Surf City to build sidewalks along Highway 50, according to the town's planning director, Todd Rademacher. The new sidewalk will stretch from JH Batts Road to the Faith Harbor Church.
Rademacher says it will improve safety in the area. He says with new homes and businesses popping up, a lot of people are now walking to the beach. Rademacher says in the past, a pedestrian was hit by a car in that area, and the new sidewalk will stop that from happening again.
Construction should be completed by this fall.
