
BJ Wright's court case was continued this week due to the jury tampering investigation.COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - New charges have been filed against a man in Columbus County who has had numerous run-ins with law enforcement in recent years. This time, his wife faces charges too.
BJ Wright and his wife Karen are both charged with jury tampering in his most recent court case. Wright was on trial this week on habitual felon charges, but the judge continued the trial to investigate the claims of jury tampering. Wright's attorney also stepped down from the case.
The Wrights were charged last Friday. Karen Sealey Wright faces one count of offering bribes, one count of harassing/communicating with a juror, two felony conspiracy charges, three counts of obstruction and three counts of harassment of a juror, according to the Columbus County Sheriff's Office. She is in jail on a half million dollar bond.
BJ Wright is charged with two counts of harassment of a juror, one count of obstruction of justice and one felony conspiracy charge. His bond is a half million dollars for these current charges. He was already in jail at the time.
BJ Wright has had several public issues involving former State Senator RC Soles in recent years. Earlier this month, Wright was accused of jumping through a second-story window of the Columbus County Courthouse while in a meeting with his attorney.
