The town of Surf City dedicated bricks in front of the Tourism building on Friday afternoon.
"It gives a way to recognize those of the past, present and future," said Surf City Mayor Zander Guy. Leaders dedicated 134 bricks that were covered in messages written by those inside town limits.
Some of the bricks read, "It doesn't get much better than this," "we love and miss you," and "in memory of mom."
For the Wiese family it was a chance to make sure their son-in-law's memory lived on. Shane was killed in a hit-and-run motorcycle crash last year, before his death, he came to Surf City every summer.
Now his name sits next to others, just a stones throw away from the waters edge.
About 40 bricks have already been purchased for the next dedication, but it's not too late if you want to purchase one. There is space 1,800 bricks, they cost between $100 and $500 dollars.
