WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - Earlier in August, many cast their fishing poles at Wrightsville Beach to help out one family, and it paid off tremendously.

Heather Pope Foster lost her battle to lung cancer in June, leaving her husband, five-year-old son, and five-month-old daughter behind.

To help the Fosters, Starling Marine hosted their annual Summer Celebration Fishing Tournament in honor of Heather, with the proceeds from the event helping her family pay for her remaining medical bills.

As a result of the fundraiser, $18,000 was raised, according to a press release from Starling Marine, and a check in that amount will be given to the Fosters.
