(RNN) - Most of us will never be an Olympian, but thanks to Google we can all become a world-class hurdler.
If you have two fingers and know where the forward, back and up arrows (or space bar) are on your keyboard, you can go to Google and waste what would otherwise be productive time by trying to earn the site's three virtual coins, awarded based on your time. It offers all the benefits of competition and athletic glory without all the sweat and hard work.
Google has been honoring the Olympic Games for more than week with a different doodle each day based on what competition is being contested, but Tuesday's digital hurdler is the first one to be interactive.
It comes on the day the women's 100-meter hurdles finals will be contested in London at 4 p.m. Eastern and aired on NBC sometime well after that, though it can be viewed live online, unless another glitch happens.
Team USA's Lolo Jones will be competing in the event, hoping to erase an Olympic letdown from four years ago when she was leading the race entering at the second-to-last hurdle, but failed to clear it and finished well out of medal contention.
Failing to negotiate one of the 10 digital hurdles on Google's homepage will slow your digital runner to a crawl, and end your hopes of a three-star finish. But, unlike competing in the Olympics, you can try as many times as you wish.
The world record in the men's 110-meter hurdles is 12.87 seconds, and the women's 100-meter hurdles record is 12.21 seconds. You'll have to break 12 seconds to earn all three coins, and it may take the help of a coworker. Sadly, no national anthem will be played for your gold medal performance.
Google has honored each Olympics year with a series of doodles since 2000.
