SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) – Casting crews for Safe Haven are looking for hundreds of extras to fill the streets of Southport this week as they recreate the annual Fourth of July parade for the movie.
While the extras won't be paid for their time, there will be raffle prizes and they will get to see many of the lead actors in the film.
Right now, filming is scheduled for August 8. Extras are being asked to start showing up at 10:00 a.m. Parking will be available on Atlantic, Moore and Howe Streets. Folks who are interested in attending the parade are asked to wear red, white, and blue. Also, feel free to bring Fourth of July paraphernalia such as small flags, crazy headbands and face paint. Extras should not to wear flip flops (for sound purposes).
However, you are advised to keep an eye on the casting Facebook page for Safe Haven for more details regarding the date and times of the shoot.
The annual Southport Parade draws in roughly 40,000-50,000 each year. The parade began in 1964, but has roots dating back to the 1700s.
Safe Haven is the film adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel about a widower from Southport.
