‘How I Met Your Mother' star joins cast of Nicholas Sparks flick

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) –Actress Cobie Smulders, known for playing Robin on the TV show How I Met Your Mother, has joined the cast of the Nicholas Sparks-inspired film being shot locally, Safe Haven, according to Variety.

The film, which stars Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough, is set to shoot in both Wilmington and Southport this summer.

"So excited to join the cast of They Came Together and Safe Haven!! It's going to be a fun summer!" tweeted Smulders on Friday.

Smulders is reportedly set to play the role of a neighbor, and she recently appeared in the blockbuster The Avengers, which hit theaters in May.

Smulders is also set to film another movie soon with Paul Rudd, entitled They Came Together.

Part of Market Street is expected to close Wednesday night for filming of Safe Haven.
