When Perry Jones returned to his house in Wilmington Wednesday, what he saw haunts him still -- Jones house was on fire.
It's on Allens Lane in Wilmington.
The fire ignited about 4:00 Wednesday afternoon, virtually destroying the home. Jones says he left just an hour earlier, and saw the smoke as he returned home.
I didn't think it was my house. I'd just left it. But it was. There's something mighty funny about that," Jones says. "Why did the house burn so quick? And why didn't I see smoke when I left? I wasn't gone that long."
Investigators don't know the cause of the fire yet.
