NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A 50-year-old man was apprehended by New Hanover County Sheriff's detectives with 26 bags of heroin and a small piece of crack cocaine in his possession, according to Sergeant J.J. Brewer.
Detectives reportedly went to the area of Swann Street and James Alley in response to a citizen complaint on Monday afternoon. They witnessed Shannon Lucas, 50, and Earl Jackson Jr., 52, engage in a street level drug transaction, Brewer said.
Jackson did not have anything illegal, but he was charged with conspiracy to sell or deliver a controlled substance.
Lucas was charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin; possession of cocaine; resisting, obstructing, or delaying an officer; and conspiracy to sell or deliver a controlled substance.
"I encourage and thank our citizens who continue to call whenever they believe something illegal is occurring in their neighborhood. Together we are much more effective in combating criminal behavior," stated Capt. D.A. Ciamillo of the New Hanover County Vice and Narcotics Division.
