Cape Fear Watershed

A watershed is better known as a "drainage basin".  It's the area of land that collects rain water (or melted snow) and eventually sends it to the ocean or into the ground as ground water.  The Cape Fear River Basin is part of the larger South Atlantic/Gulf Regional Watershed (as are all of the rivers in Southeast North Carolina & Northeast South Carolina).
